Suzanne Walker (She/They) – President

Suzanne Walker is a Scholar of Armizare in the Chicago Swordplay Guild and has been a Guild member since 2016. While she initially joined to get hands-on research for writing accurate fight scenes, she stuck around for the camaraderie, love of history, and satisfaction of challenging herself in the martial arts. Outside of the guild she is an author and editor. She co-created the critically acclaimed graphic novel Mooncakes and has had short fiction published in Clarkesworld, Uncanny Magazine, and the Star Wars anthology From a Certain Point of View: Return of the Jedi. In addition to historical Italian martial arts she enjoys figure skating, aerial silks, and baseball.

Nat Morse-Noland (They/Them) – Treasurer
Nat Morse-Noland is a Scholar of Renaissance Swordplay in the CSG. They joined the Guild in 2019, although they did briefly train with the Society for Creative Anachronism in the late 2000s. Since joining, Nat has found the Guild to be the ideal fusion of their love for history and physical activity, and they hope to give back to the community that has already provided them so much fulfillment.

Nicolas Cabrera – Communications Officer

Nicolas “Nic” Cabrera is the Director of Communications for the Chicago Swordplay Guild. He has been a part of the Guild for 10 years and currently holds the Rank of Scholar of Renaissance and Scholar of Bolognese. He is also one of the teachers for our Taster of Renaissance classes and Abrazare Basics. His martial arts interests are Italian rapier, Bolognese fencing, Spanish fencing, Spanish knife, Historical African Martial Arts, and Colombian Machete. Outside of the Guild he works for Chicago Shakespeare Theatre as a House Technician and The Logan Center for the Performing Arts at the University of Chicago.
